Pros: The leather feels very strong yet it's not too heavy. It can be converted to a briefcase, sort of - at least the side carry handle is useful sometimes. It can be attached to a suitcase. The straps can be completely hidden away - good for storage or putting into cargo bins. There is a secret pocket in the backing. It is easy to expand and the size is great for an overnight bag or even buying groceries. The straps are extremely comfortable and don't slip. The bottom is extremely thick and strong. The handles are strong and well-reinforced with heavy stitching.Cons: It's quite stiff. It's heavier than a normal backpack. The USB cable is type A to A which is a bit old-fashioned, and the cable juts out into the storage area with no pocket to hold a portable battery. The small pocket opens mainly on the side making it hard to get into - I wish its zipper went a little further across the laptop for better access. The laptop sleeve probably won't fit larger laptops. It's easy to scratch your laptop against the zipper because the leather is quite stiff. Briefcase mode is of questionable value because the pocket organizers are not designed to be accessed from that direction. In expanded mode the open zipper can touch your clothing.Overall: I have been using this backpack for a week now and overall I'm very satisfied with it. The design is not perfect but for the price it is a bargain, and I really appreciate being able to shrink/expand it as necessary. It's quite compact in normal mode, and expanded it is very roomy but not bulky and floppy.Other notes: The leather did come with some marks on it, but I don't mind; it just adds character. I'm going to add more soon. I feel it will take a year or two to soften up and wear in.
